Vedran Corluka, a professional football player, was born on February 5, 1986 in Modran, which is located in Bosnia, SFR Yugoslavia.
Vedran Corluka represents Croatia regularly at the international level and is highly respected by his teammates. He began his international career by playing for the Croatian Under-21 team and graduated to the senior team with his solid performance. On August 16, 2006 Vedran Corluka made his debut for the national side at the age of 20 in a friendly match against Italy and helped his team win that match.
Vedran Corluka played a major role during Croatia’s Euro 2008 qualifying campaign and helped his team finish first in Group E, ahead of Russia and England. This impressive performance earned him a place in the final squad for Euro 2008. Vedran Corluka went on to become a strong wall on the right side of Crotia’s defense, thanks to his fine running style and composed game skills.
Vedran Corluka began playing football at Dinamo Zagreb’s youth team at the age of eight and impressed talent scouts from the youth academy. In 2003, he graduated to play for the club’s senior team and in the following season, he was signed as a loan player by Inter Zapreši?. He returned to Dinamo Zagreb in 2005 after helping Inter Zapreši? finish second in the league table. He performed well with Dinamo Zagreb and helped it win the Prva Hrvatska Nogometna Liga (HNL) title in 2006 and 2007. Vedran Corluka played a vital role in guiding his team to the Croatian Cup and Croatian Supercup titles too in 2006.
On August 2, 2007, Vedran Corluka signed a five-year deal with Manchester City for an undisclosed fee and was given jersey number 5 by the club’s manager, Mark Hughes. He regularly featured in the starting line-up of his team and helped it enter the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Cup qualifying round through the UEFA fair play ranking.
Vedran Corluka, who also plays as a defensive midfielder when situation demands, is regarded as one of the best right-backs in Europe.
